Ambleside School: Music Teacher, part-time: Ambleside School, a Christ-centered school in Herndon, VA (www.ambleside.org) is seeking a dedicated instructor of Music for students from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Kodaly training and experience is highly preferred. Applicants should have an interest in practicing Charlotte Mason’s pedagogy and partnering with music teachers from other Ambleside Schools. Position is part-time, two days a week, Salary $30/ instructional hour. Teacher is responsible for the general instruction of music as well as three performances a year – Veterans Day, Christmas, and Shakespeare Festival. Bachelor’s degree is required. Classroom Teacher: An Ambleside classroom teacher is responsible for the academic and character growth for a classroom of up to 16 students. Candidates must be willing to grow and learn along with the students and with administration. Ambleside teachers must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to live out their faith in the classroom. He or she must recognize that Ambleside is a school founded upon the philosophy of Charlotte Mason and should be eager to grow in mastery of the method. At Ambleside, growth is the goal not only for students, but for parents and teachers as well. Teachers will collaborate with peers and administration toward professional and personal development, and are responsible for communicating effectively with parents for the sake of the growth and wellbeing of their children.
Spanish Teacher: An Ambleside Spanish teacher is primarily responsible for the instruction of the Spanish language for a class of up to 16 students at a time. The Spanish teacher will teach at all grade levels, Kindergarten through 8th grade, and should be fluent in conversational Spanish to aid in instruction. Spanish is taught by applying the Guoin Series method while adhering to Charlotte Mason's philosophy, and working to build proper habits of the good life in the classroom. A high level of competence in speaking Spanish is necessary. Also, this teacher should possess a desire to join a community of international educators who monthly conference with one another to learn and grow in how to teach foreign language at Ambleside.
Math Teacher: The Ambleside elementary math program focuses on helping students to attain a high level of fluency in arithmetic and build a foundation for higher level mathematics. This teacher will have a love for children, a desire to each child grow in skill and mastery, and a desire to apply Charlotte Mason's philosophy in the area of mathematics.
Office Manager: Ambleside Boerne’s Office Manager provides a variety of duties in support of the Principal and School Board. This essential position will act as a liaison between the school and greater community, will establish and maintain records, will provide energy and intellect toward the organization of the school, and will formulate and implement best practices for the effective administration of the school. Qualified candidates should enjoy working with and meeting new people, should be energized by the prospect of collaborating with Principal and Board to better the organization, and should be comfortable doing the daily tasks required to assist in the running of the school.
