If the Ambleside Internship has inspired you, plan to attend the Ambleside Summer Institute. During this intensive, 1-week immersion seminar, participants and faculty use a reflective practice approach to examine the philosophy of Charlotte Mason and the practice of the Ambleside Method in greater detail.
During the first half of the week, participants experience what it is like to be an Ambleside student. Summer Institute faculty teach from the Ambleside curriculum, including science, history, mathematics, Bible, literature, grammar, composition, nature study, and composer study.
Participants and faculty then reflect on the significance of what happened in the classroom. How did the teacher use the text? How did she engage with the text? How were students encouraged to engage the text? How did the teacher encourage the formation of habits? How did inspirational ideas appear during the lesson?
During the second half of the week, participants prepare and teach their own lessons. Summer Institute faculty provide curricula, preparation assistance, and supportive critiques.
Each day, Summer Institute faculty lead seminars in Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophy and the application of the Ambleside Method.
The cost is $1,200 per participant and includes tuition, daily lunches, and 3 dinners. Additional meals, transportation, lodging, and miscellaneous costs are not included.
Successful completion of an Ambleside Internship is a prerequisite for attending the Summer Institute.
